Our Trustees

Chaired by Shonaig Macpherson, our volunteer Trustees offer their time and expertise to help shape the direction of the Scottish Golf charity. With experience in the third sector, fundraising, and across golf, they are responsible for strategy, and ensuring the Trust is sustainable and fulfilling its objectives. 

Shonaig Macpherson, Chair 

Shonaig Macpherson’s executive career was spent in one of the UK’s largest law firms where she advised clients whose core assets were intellectual property.

 

Over the last 20 years she has worked across the private, public and third sectors as Chair, Trustee and Non-Executive Director. Shonaig has significant experience in the Scottish Charitable sector including as a trustee of grant making charities, including The Robertson Trust, Princes Trust, PSYBT and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.   She currently chairs Euan’s Guide and the Edinburgh International Culture Summit Foundation.

Laura Brady

Laura Brady has been Director of Marketing and Fundraising at Worldwide Cancer Research for nearly seven years, where she has been responsible for a string of marketing accolades and substantial increase in donations. She has a foundation in communications, PR, and journalism, and a Certificate from Harvard Business School.

Vic Skelton

Vic Skelton has played a major role in the development and improved effectiveness of the Glasgow Golf Union, and is currently their President.

Focus is being given to the development of young players in the Glasgow area with well-funded and directed programmes attempting to maximise a players potential whatever that may be. 

 

Vic has had a successful career in the Scotch Whisky industry followed in equal measure by success in the field of international business process outsourcing, systems integration and information technology. Vic has a strong background in managing teams and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders. 

Damien Gilmore

Damien Gilmore's 20 plus years in financial services has seen him work across a number of the largest UK banks. Currently Damien is Head of Risk & Control within Natwest Group, where he also sits across a number of internal boards including the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Damien is also Treasurer and Trustee on the Board of Scottish Charity Dads Rock. 

Damien has previously supported Scottish Golf through the ClubGolf initiative as a coach and Club Lead. Damien likes to spend as much time on the links as he can, bringing friends and family to the game of golf.

Sean Walter

Brendan Dick

Brendan Dick’s career has spanned over 40 years in the telecommunications industry, most recently as chair of the Openreach Scotland Board from 2018 - 2021 and prior to that as Director BT Scotland.

 

Brendan also has extensive experience as a Non-Exec Director and Chair in the not-for-profit and charitable sectors. He is a past Non-Exec Director Scottish Golf and is currently Chair of Edinburgh Science.

 

Brendan is also a Trustee of Mortonhall Golf Club in Edinburgh, having also served as Captain and Golf & Handicap Convenor in the past.

Ross Aitken

Ross Aitken has been involved with World Rugby and the men’s Rugby World Cup for 10 years. Ross is currently Director of Event Operations, a core part of the team developing the delivery model for World Rugby Events and Media, and also responsible for the planning and coordination of event operational functions for future Rugby World Cup tournaments.

 

Prior to joining World Rugby, Ross worked within sports development for Scottish Rugby before leading the delivery of the Rugby Sevens competition for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee. He also holds an MBA from Manchester Business School.

Sean Walter has worked for abrdn Investments for over 8 years, and is currently the Investment Sales Director for the North of the UK. 

Sean is a scratch golfer and has been a member at West Linton Golf Club for over 20 years and is a proud alumnus of the University of Stirling, where he was selected for the prestigious International Sports Scholarship programme for Golf.
